Included with this Hub are templates for things like Projects, Tasks, and Notes. Notion also has a handy feature that allows you to choose a ‘Default Template’ for every database. This means that every time you create a new Project, for example, you can choose to automatically apply the “New Project” template.
Currently, Notion is NOT able to automatically apply these defaults when you duplicate the Official Template, so you’ll need to apply them yourself.
Setting a default template for each database across your Hub is easy.
- Just go to the Quick Capture widget on your home page, hover over Projects, and click the down-down arrow beside the blue ‘New’ button.
- Scroll down to the ‘Quick Project’ template and click the dots to the right of the template title. This will open a small menu with the option to “set as default.”
- When you click that you’ll be asked whether you want to set this default everywhere across the Hub or just in this specific view of your projects database. Choose the option to apply it across your entire Hub.
- Repeat this step for every other database in your Quick Capture widget:
- Notes > “Quick Note”
- Projects > “New Project”
- Tasks > “Quick Task”
- Swipes > “Quick Swipe”
- Collateral > “Quick Collateral”
